Sayani Gupta reveals her creative process in Delhi Crime 3: "I improvised most scenes and wrote my own dialogues"

Sayani Gupta has been receiving strong appreciation for her intense portrayal of Kusum in Delhi Crime Season 3. Known for her detailed and instinctive performances, Sayani shared that the character immediately stood out to her when she first read the script. “Ever since I read it, I could see the scope. Every time Tanuj (Chopra) and I spoke, we realised we were on the same page and began shaping the character—her walk, body language, spirit animal, costumes, makeup—everything in detail,” she said.

Her collaboration with director Tanuj Chopra gave her the freedom to fully explore and build the role. “Tanuj gave me complete freedom to create her and trusted me. I improvised most of my scenes and wrote my own dialogues,” she revealed. This trust allowed her to shape Kusum in a way that felt both unpredictable and authentic.

Looking back, Sayani described Delhi Crime 3 as one of her most creatively rewarding projects. “It was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career,” she said. Following the acclaim for her performance, Sayani is now preparing to return as one of her most popular characters in Four More Shots Please! Season 4, further strengthening her reputation as one of the most versatile and fearless performers of her generation.
